Returns {owner, scope, spaces, spaces_source, communities, communities_source}. `scope` is 'personal', 'team' or 'community' for an account graph, or 'unscoped' for a local store without an account owner. `spaces` lists every space this credential can act in: 'personal' plus each team you are an active member of, each with the `id` to pass as `space` and your `role` there (viewer reads, editor writes, admin also deletes and merges). Omitting `space` acts on your personal graph, so a write meant for a team lands there unless you pass its id. `spaces_source`: 'account' means the list is complete; 'unavailable' means the team lookup failed and only personal is shown (not the same as having no teams); 'not_applicable' means the connection is not a personal account graph, and `spaces` and `communities` are then absent. That covers a team address (which pins the session to that team and ignores `space`), a community and a local store. `communities` lists joined public communities (id 'community:<uuid>', with reader or operator metadata), and communities_source tells an empty list from an unavailable one. Any signed-in account can read a public community by its id without joining; joining grants no write or import rights. On the hosted service `quota` (and each entry of `spaces`) gives that space's daily tool-call allowance, shared by everyone working in it: {metered: true, exempt: false, plan, window, limit, used, remaining, resets_at}. `window` is 'utc_day': calls count per UTC calendar day, not a rolling 24 hours, and the space this call ran in already counts it in `used`. resets_at is in UTC, and `warning` and `upgrade_url` are added once 80% is used. A space that is not metered invents no numbers: {metered: false, exempt: true} means calls in that space are not counted at all, and {metered: false, exempt: false, plan} means that plan has no daily count. With no GRAPH.md a default is returned (source:'default', missing:true) with the domain list and ratified vocabulary filled from the graph; follow those two even then. Both lists are recomputed on every call, so they are current even when the prose is old; the built date in the header dates only the prose. This is the only way to see the ratified vocabulary: an unlisted type is allowed but lands as proposed and waits for a person. Writing a role (concept:agent-<name>)? Its contract is the Roles section, always in the answer: when the owner's file has none, the default section is inserted and `roles_section` reads 'default' (the stored file is unchanged). A role write that breaks the contract is still stored, and vinc_ingest says what is wrong in `warnings`. The response also says where you are: `owner` is the graph you are connected as, and `scope` is 'personal', 'team' or 'community' for an account graph, or 'unscoped' for a local store without an account owner. On a local connection `target` reads 'local'; the hosted server does not return it. Check them before your first write. vinc_whoami gives the same answer by itself, with the spaces you can reach. The list is flat: 'vinc' and 'vinc/design' are separate rows although one is the other's parent; walk the hierarchy with vinc_neighbors('domain:<name>'). Call it before vinc_ingest to find existing ids to reuse. Returns `rows` (document chunk matches) and `node_hits` (Concept, Record, Decision and Episode candidates). A row carries an excerpt (`snippet`, `truncated`, `doc_id`), not the full chunk: read the document with vinc_doc_get(doc_id), and pass detail:'full' only when you need raw chunk text. The snippet is the 240-character window holding the most query terms, starting with … when it is not the chunk's start, or the first 240 characters when no term matches. Rows and node hits carry `cite_id`, the node to cite; a document row cites its concept:doc.<doc_id> mirror, and cite_id:null with cite_unavailable means that mirror is missing or unreadable. Never build a citation from the document key yourself. Node hits carry id, title, kind, domain and matched_in. Rows and node hits carry `temporal` {created_at, updated_at, content_time, valid_from, valid_until, superseded_by, validity, interval_known, interval_invalid, holds_in_scope, supersession, supersedes, claim_status, conflicts}. With detail:'full' the first seven also appear as top-level keys; that copy is deprecated, so read `temporal`. Keyword matching covers title and id for all four kinds, Concept.one_liner and Concept, Record and Decision props, but not Episode.summary. Meaning matching uses the title plus Concept.one_liner or the first 300 characters of Episode.summary; Record and Decision props are not embedded. Node vectors refresh at release boundaries, so new node text may be stored but not yet findable by meaning. The first page always runs a keyword scan of nodes, so they are findable even with no indexed text. `keyword_gated:true` means the keyword list was left out because none of its top rows covered half the query terms (typical for a Korean question over English text), so the order is the meaning arm's. Pagination: `total_count`, `has_more` and `next_cursor`; pass `cursor` to continue. An invalid or expired cursor is an error, never a restart. The cursor pages `rows` only: node hits come on the first page, and later pages carry an empty list with `node_hits_omitted`. `node_window` describes that first-page window and its candidate limit. total_count never counts node hits, and `total_count_capped:true` makes it a lower bound. `node_semantic` reports the node arm separately: complete, partial, degraded, disabled or empty_mirror (no stored node vectors in this scope, which does not mean no nodes exist). checked_candidates verifies only the returned candidates against current text; stale or missing ones are dropped without a rebuild, and a failed node arm adds node_error. If the backend fails, a top-level `error` names the cause (for example index_missing or extension_unavailable) instead of an empty result. `vector_note` appears when the meaning arm did not run, or with `encoder_runtime_warning:true` when stored and query encoder versions are unknown or differ (the arm may have run, with less accurate results). Right after a document write the index rebuilds in the background: `arms` reads \"fts\", the call never waits, and that note is benign. Any other vector_note is a failure of the meaning arm (a timeout, a missing index, an unavailable extension) and the rows were found by text matching alone. If the question contains a node id (concept:x, record:x, decision:x, episode:x), that node is used directly (resolved_via:'id'); if it cannot be loaded the answer is status:'none' with the id in `unreadable`, and nothing else is ranked in its place. Otherwise the question resolves to one node by strict ranking. Returns {kind, executed, query, status, node:{id, title, domain, kind, valid_from, valid_until, validity, superseded_by}, one_liner, body_src, body_cite, excerpts:[{doc_id, doc_title, section, excerpt, method}], links:{degree, out, in, attached, total, items:[{id, title, domain, type, dir, evidence, confidence, note}], truncated}, candidates:[...], grounds:[id...]}. Read `status` first. 'resolved': one node won strictly, and node, excerpts and links are filled. 'choose': the leading candidates tied and nothing was guessed; pick one from `candidates` (hit_tokens and title_tokens show the tie) and ask again with its id (an exact title works only when no other node shares it). 'none': nothing matched, unless `unreadable` is present, which means the named nodes could not be loaded (a missing id, or a node deleted or re-owned between search and read); branch on that field, not on the note. `search_error` means the document search failed and the answer came from node matching alone, so 'none' is then not evidence that nothing matches. `partial:true` means the node was read but its excerpts or relations were not (`partial_note` says which), so empty links do not mean an isolated node. Nothing is generated: `one_liner` is quoted, never written; `body_src` says whether it came from the one_liner column, a props key or a document excerpt, and `body_cite` names that document. `grounds` lists every id the material rests on and stays complete even when the result was shrunk. Excerpts are windows on the node's own words; for a document they show where it names itself. When the question was searched (not an id) and the top document's mirror is the resolved node or a candidate, `section` carries {node_id, cite_id, doc_id, section, chunk_ids, text, truncated, basis}: the part of that document the question points at (the chunk nearest the question and its neighbours under the same section title, up to 6,000 characters). Quote it with its cite_id; on a 'choose' answer it belongs to the candidate named by node_id. Nodes, candidates, links and excerpts carry `cite_id` (null for an excerpt whose document mirror is missing or unreadable), and `cite_grounds` lists only canonical node citations. links.degree is not the node's degree: it counts only concept and decision relations (out plus in), and `attached` counts the records, episodes and bridges it leaves out. `total` is the node's full connectivity, the same number vinc_neighbors reports as `count`; never sum degree across nodes. links.items[].evidence is a boolean and `evidence_text` is the source sentence when there is one, so a relation can be quoted. node.validity is 'current', 'historical' or 'future', from the node's own interval (a Record's columns, a Decision's props); when it is not current, `validity_note` says so and names `superseded_by` if a successor exists. A node reached by id skips the default filter, so do not quote a historical node as the present state. node.validity_basis:legacy_visibility labels a compatibility field; node.claim_validity and node.temporal.validity assess the stored interval and keep unknown dates. Show the person the preview, then call again with the same arguments, without dry_run and with that preview_digest. The apply re-reads the target and is refused with error:preview_conflict (status conflict) if anything it would change has moved since, so preview again rather than retrying blind. An apply without preview_digest runs unconditionally. A preview that cannot be complete (over 200 rows, over the size budget, or a target you cannot read) is refused with executed:false and an error such as preview_incomplete or preview_target_unavailable, never truncated. operation_id (a fresh UUID) makes the call safe to repeat after a lost response: read vinc_operation_status before deciding, and resend identical arguments with the same id; a repeat returns the first result with replayed:true. Here preview is {deleted_nodes, deleted_edges, edge_count, retained_documents, deleted_shadows}: every edge that would go, with the count, while the node, edges, tombstones and jobs stay untouched. It is a point-in-time read, so later writes can change the final count, which preview_digest guards; deleted.edges is counted after the fact. Walk one hop at a time (observe, then pick the next node) instead of pulling a depth-2 subgraph with vinc_graph; it costs far fewer tokens per step. Topic description documents are unlinked by design and belong to their topic, so they are left out of components and orphans and only counted in topic_descriptions_excluded. kind='communities': Leiden clusters; returns {communities:[{community, size, dominant_domain, quality, members}]}, measured clusters distinct from domains and a basis for proposing themes for the user to ratify, never written automatically. kind='community_context' (requires `node`): answers 'what is in this area' without generation; returns {community, size, quality, dominant_domain, representatives:[{id, title, one_liner, excerpt}], members:[{id, title}], members_truncated} for the seed concept's cluster, with up to 5 representatives (ranked by how many chunks mention them) carrying a quoted excerpt; executed:false with a note when the seed is unknown or isolated. Leiden never returns a disconnected community, and `quality` holds numbers, not a verdict: connected, internal_edges, boundary_edges, density, conductance (lower is a cleaner cut) and modularity_share (negative means no better than chance). kind='claims' reads record props: returns {conflicts:[{subject_path, newer, older}], conflict_count, unanchored:[{id, title, path_hint}], unanchored_count, anchored_count, results_excluded, scanned}. `conflicts` pairs the latest current measurement of a file with each earlier current one that has a different measured_at, asking whether the older claim still stands; it does not decide, so open the file and look. A record with props.claim_kind:'result' is a point-in-time result (a dated run with its numbers), not a claim about how the code behaves now: it is never paired in conflicts, as newer or older, and results_excluded counts the current ones left out this way, while anchored_count and scanned still count them; any other claim_kind is an ordinary claim. `unanchored` lists current records that name a file in their text but have no props.subject_path, a count meant to be driven down. A record whose valid_until is today or earlier (retired, or superseded with its valid_until set) is not current: it is left out of conflicts, unanchored and stale, while anchored_count and scanned still count it. `stale` lists current records whose subject_path file was touched by a later change episode (an Episode with props.files as repo:path and a date, optionally props.head_sha) after the later of measured_at and props.reviewed_at, with the latest change; the same commit as measured_ref (prefix match) is not stale, and a change on the measurement day carries same_day:true. props.reviewed_at (YYYY-MM-DD, on any record) is the day someone checked the later changes and found the record still stands: changes up to and on that day are not counted, a value that is not a date is ignored, and a stale entry repeats it as claim.reviewed_at. Unchanged text is a no-op (skipped:true). Read `created`: it is the only field that tells an edit from a second document, because a fresh write and an unchanged rewrite both report replaced 0. A doc_id: line in the document body is not its store id; deleting by that value removes a different document or nothing. This is the main write tool; vinc_delete and vinc_merge_nodes clean up. The daily limit counts calls, not nodes, so send everything one piece of work needs in one call. To build the graph from a stored document, write its concepts with one vinc_doc_extract (your own candidates, apply:true), then its relations and records with one vinc_ingest; the build-graph-from-documents prompt spells this out. Read before you write: reuse ids found with vinc_search or vinc_recall, and call vinc_conventions once before your first write in a session so your writes match this owner's conventions and existing domains. Node types record|concept|domain|bridge|episode|decision go to dedicated tables; any other type goes to the open Entity carrier and is added to the theme vocabulary as proposed (listed in proposed_types for a person to ratify). Edges: allowed pairs (concept and decision are interchangeable endpoints, except relates_to which stays concept→concept): supersedes = new→old of the same kind (record→record, decision→decision, concept:doc.*→concept:doc.*), with nonempty evidence; relates_to = concept→concept; prerequisite_of|derives_from|inherits_from = concept|decision → concept|decision; returns_to = distinct role concepts, with nonempty evidence; record → concept|decision for any of those four; connects_via = bridge → concept|decision; about = episode|decision → concept|decision; any-type = open-entity→open-entity (TYPED carrier). relates_to is undirected, so an existing reverse edge is reused; connects_via takes an optional role; a record edge keeps its type on ATTACHES_TO. Skipped and reported in `warnings` with partial:true: malformed nodes (no id, no type, an Entity with no title), nodes whose id another account already owns on the hosted graph, edges with an unsupported (from,to) pair, and edges whose endpoint was skipped. `merged` counts only what landed. An id owned by someone else is also listed in `id_conflicts`: node ids are one global namespace, so a retry cannot fix it; pick another id. `stored` returns each node read back as it now sits (id, kind and the fields that kind keeps): compare it with what you sent, since a field the kind has no column for is absent and a domain comes back normalized. `stored_truncated` counts nodes left out of the read-back for size (they were still written). Sending props replaces the whole stored object, so read, merge and resend it, or use props_patch. `advisories` are bounded claim review suggestions, separate from warnings, and never retire another claim. Dates are always checked; review_claims:true adds a bounded comparison with this owner's saved claims. Check advisory_review.state (not_requested, complete, limited or unavailable), and `retrieval` for field coverage and unverified node-vector freshness: a stored fact is not necessarily an embedded one. Optional conditions keep a write from overwriting what you did not read. create_only:true (on the fragment or on one node) refuses when that id already exists, so a create never edits an existing node. expected_rev on a node takes the rev from vinc_node and refuses when the stored rev differs; props_patch on such a node merges into the stored props instead of replacing them. A failed condition refuses the whole fragment before anything changes, with {executed:false, error:write_conflict, status:conflict, node_id, current_rev}, so read the node again instead of resending. Omit them for a plain merge. operation_id (a fresh UUID) makes the call safe to repeat after a lost response: read vinc_operation_status before deciding, and resend identical arguments with the same id; a repeat returns the first result with replayed:true. CONNECTS and TYPED edges cannot be deleted here. This is the second half of the document workflow: vinc_doc_put stores the text, and this links concepts to it with MENTIONS so the document joins search and the graph instead of sitting as inert text. apply:false (the default) only proposes candidates and writes nothing; make that call first, unless you pass your own `candidates`, which apply:true writes in one call. apply:true merges each candidate as concept:{slug} with status 'proposed' and the document's own topic as its domain (the front-matter domain: line if present, else the document's derived topic). A document with neither refuses apply with an error asking for a topic first. The document's MENTIONS are then relinked. Existing concepts are matched, never overwritten (a title or one_liner you refined is safe), though an empty content_time or domain on a matched concept is filled in. The default extraction reads headings: structure words (method, provenance, verdict...), sentence-like headings and headings over six words give no candidate; a heading loses its section number or letter prefix (\"3.1 Identity\" becomes \"Identity\", which also sets the slug) and its inline markdown; the one_liner runs to the end of the first sentence under it; a heading with nothing readable under it gives no candidate, so every candidate has a one_liner. Pass `candidates` to apply your own list instead; only title and one_liner are read, and ids are always derived on the server (each returned candidate carries its slug, so its id is concept:<slug>). Write each title as the document writes it, so MENTIONS links it to those passages. Send the whole list in one call, then the relations and records in one vinc_ingest, as the build-graph-from-documents prompt describes.
